Our Dentists

  • Bryan Thomas BDS (Eng), LDS, RCS. GDC no 47187

    Bryan Thomas

I qualified in 1973 at King’s College Hospital, London where I took a post as a resident house officer in oral surgery. Following four fascinating years working in Kenya I returned to settle in general practice and joined Painswick House in 1987. With my colleagues here I continue to pursue postgraduate studies in a wide range of dental fields.

I am passionately interested in wildlife conservation, music, art, sport, food and drink. I am still involved in refereeing rugby matches – slowly.

Welsh, a dentist and a rugby ref!

  • Guy Bradshaw BDS (Wal), DPDS. GDC no 63345

    Guy Bradshaw

I graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1988 and spent some years working in hospitals and practices in the South West before joining Painswick House in 1991.

As well as general practice, I work one day a week in Bristol Dental Hospital as a Speciality Doctor teaching prosthetics to students. I am passionate about all aspects of dentistry and take referrals from my colleagues for denture cases.

In my spare time I run a taxi service – for my three busy children – and can frequently be found by the side of a swimming pool, where I run the scoring table at various water polo matches.

  • Alex Grey BDS (Eng). GDC no 62286

    Alex Grey

I qualified from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1987, and went to work as an associate at a busy practice in Hertfordshire, where I received further training and mentoring from the experienced principals. In 1989 I moved to Cheltenham and spent 15 years working in the town centre. I became a partner at Painswick House in 2005, following a year long sabbatical with my family, travelling throughout Europe and Scandinavia.

I have developed an increasing interest in pain-free dentistry, using the WAND local anaesthetic machine, which blocks nerves with minimal numbness. I have also obtained Diplomas in Laser Dentistry and in Medical and Dental Hypnosis. I use my Waterlase MD Laser regularly in practice for many aspects of general dentistry, particularly for treating gum disease.

In my spare time I keep chickens, cats and 3 children, and enjoy gardening, cooking, swimming, walking and cross-country running.

  • Craig MacnishBDS (Eng). GDC no 70541

    Craig Macnish

I qualified in 1995 from Bristol University and have a wealth of experience in Private Dentistry, working for 16 years around the Home Counties.

I have recently moved to Cheltenham to join the Painswick House team and look forward to providing the highest level of dental care to all my patients. I love the variety of work in general practice and I am committed to postgraduate education so that I can ensure my patients receive the latest best practice techniques in dentistry. I will do my utmost to ensure that visits are as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

When not in the surgery, I love spending quality time with my young family. Other passions include, travel, snowboarding, sailing, swimming, good food and wine.

  • Lesley Price BDS (Eng). GDC no 51703

    Lesley Price

I qualified at Guys Hospital in London and won The Alfred Rycroft Undergraduate prize which paid for me to spend 6 weeks at LSU Dental School in New Orleans whilst a student. After qualifying I worked at Guys and the Eastman postgraduate dental institute before a general dental practice in Oxford. I have lived in Cheltenham and worked at Painswick House since 1989. Like all the dentists at the practice, I am an active and enthusiastic member of Gloucestershire Independent Dentists.

I spend my leisure time gardening, playing golf, attending history of art classes and going Scottish dancing.
